Consequently he has been a catalyst for uniting the Christian churches in Central O`ahu for greater impact. He often says, "The Lord doesn't have many churches, He only has one Church." And that one united Church can make a greater difference in Central O`ahu that a single congregation. His ultimate hope is in the Spirit of Christ who "builds His Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
Prior to his calling to church ministry, Mike was on the full-time staff of Hawaii Youth for Christ for 16 years where he served as Senior Ministry Director until 1996.
Mike is a proud member of the Radford High School Bicentennial Class of '76 where he was Student Government President his senior year. He then graduated summa cum laude from San Francisco State University with a BA in Psychology in 1980. After his 16 years in YFC, Mike earned a Master's in Christian Studies (Applied Theology, The Discipleship of Parents Thesis) from Regent College (Vancouver, BC) before joining New Hope O`ahu in 1998. He is currently working on a Doctorate of Ministry (DMin) at King's College & Seminary, founded by Jack Hayford, the current President of the Foursquare Church.
Mike and his wife Mona, have been married since 1983 and live in Mililani with their three children, Mark, Rachael, and Caleb.
